You still get better regulation and suppression with the SuperFlower Leadex units making them a better long term investment. So no reviews by tomshardware, guru3d or jonnyguru yet though? I prefer to recommend based off independent third party verified data. Trying to find the datasheet right now. They look pretty average.

Some are good some are shit. As I've become more experienced and knowledgeable as a system builder, I now pretty much stick to Seasonic when it comes to my own personal rigs. In the past, I've used Powerspec in builds I've put together for other people, and never had any issues.

Microcenter's stuff is all overpriced except for the one PSU. Or you could look elsewhere, like amazon or newegg. Do you have any source for this? No idea. I have put many of these in systems. They are reliable.I am not sure what case to get, I'd like the cheapest case possible while still having air flow for the If the fans on the and Stealth Wraith included with the R5 are not enough, please let me know what fans to get. Hello MoriIsDumb and thanks for contacting Microcenter.

First, we'd recommend a w PSU just to make sure all parts including your have all the wattage they need. But the w will work. Second when you get your B, make sure the box says its 3rd AMD ready.

That way you know the B is ready for your If not, you may need to update the b bios. Third, how much are you wanting to spend on a case? What your max price to spend on a case? The case comes with case fans, you should be good there. If absolutely necessary I can go a bit more, but I'd like to stay low.

MoriIsDumb You're welcome. Discussion First build, need help with cables, case, and cooling. Here is what I'm looking at right now- Ryzen 5 3. Last question, I promise. Do cables come with my parts? If not, what will I need? Ok, that's all the questions I have. Thank you in advance for the help. TSTDavey admin. All your cabling should come with your case and power supply BTW. Alright, that should do it. Thank you. Sign In or Register to comment.Extend your power cord by 6ft, maximizing the space on your power strip, surge protector or wall outlet.

There are a few factors to look at when deciding on an appropriate power supply for your computer. These will be outlined below. This form factor is suitable for regular desktop computers. These will not fit in smaller desktop computer cases that require mini or micro ATX form factors, such as slim line computers.

It is important to verify if your computer case and motherboard use the ATX form factor. Refer to the information provided by the manufacturer to confirm which standard you require. The power supply that you choose should be able to output enough power for all of your components, even under a very high load.

The power output of power supplies can range from to watts for very high end productsbut the most common power supply outputs are to watts. It is recommended to replace a power supply with one that can output at least the same amount of power. It is important to verify that the power supply has enough connections, and the appropriate type of connections for all of the components in your system.

It is recommended you at least check for the most common types of connections, listed below:. Check your computer to see which connections, and how many of each you need. Performance, reliability, and the convenience of modular cabling for basic system upgrades

Save space with the W's compact design, well-placed power switch and fully sleeved cables. The W offers the connections and protections needed for basic system builds. With a standard three-year warranty and ultra quiet fan design the W will be a great asset for your next build on a budget.

Single 12V Rail A single 12V rail offers the best power output, rail stability and compatibility with the latest hardware. EVGA is a name I have come to trust.

Trust that is based on a foundation of years of product use and excellent customer service. EVGA flat out has the best customer service of any company I've ever had to deal with. They won't give you the run around. If there's a problem, they'll help you fix it or replace your problem hardware.

EVGA is synonymous with quality. They make some of the best enthusiast hardware and their entry level gear is excellent as well. For the price, this is the perfect power supply for anyone who wants to do a build that isn't based on a high end graphics card. There's enough juice here to power any system with a single graphics card that uses less than watts peak power. You never know exactly what it is you're getting.

This power supply has pretty much everything you could want in an entry level power supply. It has support for older devices for those of you who want to rebuild something older and it has support for all of the latest devices as well. Which I have also seen power sound cards in the past as well. I would have liked to have seen more Molex, but I can work with three.

When powered on, you can barely hear the fan spinning.

And that was with the case open and my face about 12 inches away from it. Sure it will make a bit of noise if you stress the PSU to it's limits for extended periods. But for the most part, it's near silent. The power supply itself is an attractive design. For what you pay, you might expect it to be aesthetically plain.

But it is a nice looking PSU inside of your case. Even the packaging it comes in looks nice. It is also well packaged, secure for shipment. The cables themselves have a bit of flexibility to them.

I have had PSUs in the past with terribly rigid cables that you could barely work with. Please re-open this page in Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Download the latest version of these browsers:. CX Series Modular power supply units are an excellent choice for basic system builds and desktop PC computer upgrades, offering high reliability, low noise, and the flexibility of modular cabling.

The modular cabling system lets you use only the cables you need. You get to save space and reduce clutter for a cleaner-looking build and improved airflow. CX Series Modular is built and tested to strict standards for trouble-free installation and smooth operation.

The matte black finish, black-sleeved cables and black connectors help give your system a restrained, high-tech look. Every Corsair power supply is designed by our California engineering team and built to our exact specifications. The same care that goes into the design and testing of our renowned high-power enthusiast power supplies also goes into the CX Series Modular, because you need confidence and reliability regardless of your build budget.

AXi PSUs still use what's called a "resonant mode" topology like a lot of modern day super-efficient power supplies, but typically in other resonant mode PSUs a PWM controller IC changes the power supply's switching frequency based on an analog signal derived from the load measured at the transformer.

This makes the power supply more efficient at a wider range of loads compared to other power supply topologies, but doing this alone can affect ripple and noise and voltage regulation. The resonant mode controller, shown above, is just about the only IC you'll find in an AXi power supply that you may also see in other high end power supplies.

The supervisor IC is the heart of the power supply's safety functions. Functions like OCP over current protection, which is protection from any one output drawing too much currentOPP over-power protection, which prevents overloadingOVP over-voltage protection, which measures if voltage goes too highUVP under-voltage protectionand SCP short circuit protection.

Temperatures are also measured within the power supply and this is reported to the IC's OTP over-temperature protection. If any value programmed into the IC is exceeded, the IC is instructed to shut down the power supply.

In an effort to improve voltage regulation drops in voltage as loads increasethe information concerning the power supply's output voltage is sent back to the PWM controller via an analog signal. This information moves relatively slow when compared to the ever-varying loads of your typical PC, so voltage regulation is still not as good as it can be. Above we see two more ICs found inside an AXi series power supply. These guys handle what goes on on the secondary side of the power supply.

The MCU I does what we call "housekeeping". This chip also handles the PMBus power management bus and thermal monitoring and fan control. On top of all of this, the MCU I also monitors the DC output for voltage drop, ripple and noise and communicates back to the DSP to address any issues that may come up. The self test function is also controlled by this chip.

Since the DSP accumulates all of this information about the power supply, and does so in real time, we can deliver it to the end user via our Corsair Link software.

Replacement power supply for a PowerSpec B639 computer

Power supplies have attempted to deliver similar information about the power supply to the end user in the past; either via software or displayed on a 5. This adds a good deal of cost and prevents the information from being delivered as close to real time as possible. Using Corsair Link, we can monitor everything from AC input voltage, output wattage We can also keep track of the temperature inside the power supply and how fast the fan is spinning: All in all, AXi Digital Power Supplies are so much more than your average desktop PSU on so many levels.

By utilizing a DSP, Corsair offers improved efficiency while maintaining stable voltage output and minimizing unwanted ripple and noise. And because all of this information is maintained in a digital format, and output to the Corsair Link software interface is practically seamless! They use a digital signal processor for better performance, they're fully modular, and have a zero RPM fan mode at low loads. But one of the coolest things about the AXi power supplies, is their compatibility with the new Corsair Link software.

Today, we take a look at the Corsair Link 2 software, or just "Link" for short, and more specifically how it gives you the ability to monitor AC input, DC output, the temperature and the fan speed of an AXi power supply. The first thing I want to do is open up the "Graph" tab and set what I want to monitor in the "Config Panel" of this tab Above, you can see that I've checked boxes asking to have my two graphics cards' temperatures and fans graphed, as well as my CPU's temperature, the temperature of my AXi power supply, as well as the AXi's fan speed.

While the system is idle, we can see that temperatures are relatively low. The AXi is just barely over room temperature and therefore, the fan is not spinning. For a few dollars more, though, there are better-performing PSUs out there.

PowerSpec, formerly called Inland, is Micro Center's house brand. For those of you who aren't familiar with Micro Center, it's considered one of America's leading electronics device retailers, with 25 stores across the nation. Although some of the company's products are only available in-store, most of its PowerSpec PSUs can be purchased online. But perfection eludes this model: its biggest weakness is a BaoDiKai cooling fan that employs a sleeve bearing. We're not sure it'll make it through Micro Center's year warranty.

The company should have ditched the RGB lighting in favor of a better fan. Because the OEM does a good job of building value-oriented platforms, its designs are popular among smaller brands looking to populate their own power supply portfolios. Our test results do suggest that this PSU lacks over-temperature protection. Moreover, the first two samples we tested had issues with over-current protection on the 3.

High Power reviewed our findings and subsequently lowered the OCP's triggering point at 3. A higher-quality fan with at least a rifle bearing should have been used instead.

There is a selectable semi-passive mode available, which alleviates some of the fan's workload if you leave it enabled. A depth measurement of mm is considered fairly compact. On paper, the minor rails deliver up to W maximum power, though we found they can go much higher.

Moreover, the 5VSB rail sports enough capacity to satisfy a modern system's needs. There are also six PCIe connectors available, supporting multiple graphics cards in small cryptocurrency mining systems. You get plenty of SATA connectors, along with four Molex connectors for peripheral devices like fans and water cooling pumps.

The cables don't have any extra ripple filtering capacitors, and their length is satisfactory. The distance between connectors is ideal on all of cables except for the four-pin Molex ones, where the connectors are only 10cm apart. We'd like to see 15cm between them, at least. Home Reviews.
